At last week's Open Grid Forum in Seattle, Univa UD CTO Steve Tuecke outlined the grid and cluster product roadmap of the company formed by last month's merger of Univa and United Devices. The product suite will include a free, downloadable open source standard for cluster workload management, along with a professional version that gives Cluster Express added functionality. For enterprise-wide grid computing, Univa UD will offer Grid MP, a United Devices-developed product that the company calls "the industry-leading technology for powering heterogeneous grids of all sizes and types."
"Switching to Univa UD products can put an end to the hefty maintenance price tags and unreliable support that our customers say are so typical of proprietary solutions," Tuecke said at OGF21. "Users of our cluster products can free themselves from schemes based on proprietary software and literally can be up and running on our proven, cost-effective Univa UD technology in a single day."
The new product lineup includes:
Cluster Express, a free download that integrates top open source cluster components into a complete cluster management product, with available support. Grid MP, with "proven scalability, security, application on-boarding and usability [that] make it the acknowledged leader in both PC grids and enterprise grid computing."
